Kinross Gold Corp. (TSE:K), Canada’s third-largest producer by revenue, added 3.2 percent to C$6.10 after saying the strike by unionized workers at its Tasiast mine that started earlier this month has ended. The impact on gold production has been “minimal,” the Toronto-based company said.
Paladin Energy Ltd. (TSE:PDN), which explores for uranium in Australia and Southern Africa, dropped 3.4 percent to 57 Canadian cents after analysts lowered their ratings for the stock. Matthew Keane, analyst with Argonaut Securities Pty Ltd. and Glyn Lawcock, analyst with UBS AG, both downgraded their ratings for the stock to "hold".
Bombardier Inc. (TSE:BBD.B), the world's only manufacturer of both planes and trains, slid 1.9 percent to C$4.72. National Bank analyst Cameron Doerksen said in a note yesterday the company’s CSeries jet may have its entry into service delayed to early 2015 from September 2014. The CSeries jet has yet to take its maiden flight.
Seabridge Gold Inc. (TSE:SEA), which acquires gold projects in North America, advanced 4.7 percent to C$15.90 after saying results from the first three holes testing for a high-grade core zone on its KSM project show “strong evidence” support the potential for a major discovery. The Toronto, Ontario-based company said further drilling on this target is planned next month.
Nordion Inc. (TSE:NDN), a medical isotope provider, leaped 7.4 percent to C$8.27 after saying it has settled a lawsuit with its main supplier, Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd, and would obtain a settlement.

The Toronto-based company reported strong results from its recent exploration program on its Schefferville West property today, with one target area in particular, Red Dragon, returning “encouraging high grade DSO type mineralization,” according to a statement.

One of the drill holes, hole GS-13-21, intersected a vein structure with an average grade of 71.39 per cent fluorspar over 17.01 metres and intersected the Grebes Nest Vein about 60 metres vertically below surface.
