In corporate activity, First Majestic Silver Corp. (TSE:FR) advanced 1.2% to C$10.85 after saying production at its five operating silver mines in Mexico reached 3.6 million equivalent ounces of silver in the first quarter, a quarterly record and up 33 percent from a year earlier.
Osisko Mining (TSE:OSK), which is in the process of fending off a hostile bid from Goldcorp (TSE:G), added 1.4% to C$7.34 after reporting record first quarter gold production of 140,029 ounces from its Canadian Malartic mine in Quebec.
Treasury Metals (TSE:TML) has unveiled new high grade drilling results from its Goliath gold project in Ontario, after beginning a 10,000 metre drilling campaign in January. The results reported Tuesday represent the initial results from the ongoing program, and are focused on the C Zone. Of the highlights, hole TL0855-14W2 intersected 5.75 metres at 3.46 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, 36 metres west of a previous C Zone hole.
Shares of Curis Resources (TSE:CUV) turned lower on Tuesday after the copper development company announced that its president and CEO Michael McPhie has resigned to take a role as a senior executive with another corporation. McPhie will remain in the role as president of Florence Copper Inc., a subsidiary of Curis, and will serve as an advisor to Curis until April 23.
In other stocks, Newalta Corp. (TSE:NAL) rose 3.1% to C$20.62 after saying it has hired RBC Capital Markets as financial adviser to review strategic options for its Industrial division, including a potential sale, IPO or spin-off.

"Clearance from the FDA has sparked renewed interest in the VMS in the cardiology community worldwide. We are seeing accelerated purchase decisions in Europe and Canada," said president and CEO of Ventripoint, Dr. George Adams, in the release.
